The Austin Blues Board hosts a major blues dance event in Austin, Texas each year. They're bringing the event back for 2014 after a brief hiatus and wanted bold, local flavor to be conveyed first and foremost in the branding. I developed this year's logo, their web banners, the postcards they hand out at other events for advertising, and the shirts they will be selling throughout the actual event weekend.
Instead of doing a two-sided postcard with lots of images and text, I opted for a literal postcard approach to create something rustic, friendly, and thorougly "Austin," which is known for being a welcoming and amiable city.
As one of the board members said in interpreting the design: "It says, 'We're Texas, m***********s.' You certainly communicated that sentiment well."
